By default, access is restricted to logged-in users with permissions for the Confluence spaces within your Spacecraft site. They can view your site’s content once it’s published. You can extend the accessibility of your site to any internet user with the anonymous access feature.

Anonymous Access

Use this feature if you’re creating public-facing content. This means it becomes accessible to literally any user on the Internet, even those without an Atlassian account.

The following guidelines will help you set up both the global and space permissions.

Global Permissions

Space Permissions

IMPORTANT
Before enabling anonymous access at the space level, permissions need to be set up at the global level.

Global Permissions

  1. Select the Settings cog (⚙️) to open Confluence administration. You’ll notice the options in the space sidebar changing.

  1. From the space sidebar, go to SETTINGS > SECURITY > Global permissions.

NOTE
If you’re on a Free plan, you won’t have access to these permission settings. Instead, you’re directed to the General configuration (see SETTINGS > CONFIGURATION in the space sidebar). In this case, you can only make your site public to users with an Atlassian account.

  1. Open the Anonymous access tab. Set Use Confluence for Anonymous users and Save (first, select the Edit button to make changes).

Space Permissions

Space permissions need to be configured for each space on the site that you want to make publicly available. Alternatively, you can manage permissions easily from the Spacecraft app.

  1. From the space sidebar, go to Space settings.

  1. In the Space permissions section, select Anonymous access.

  1. Set View permissions to All for Anonymous users and select Save (first, select the Edit button to make changes).
